dahdi is not joined with vicidial version it's joined with asterisk version so if you want to install dahdi so you need to remove zaptel and upgrade to asterisk 1.4.27 or more don't try asterisk 1.6 he is still bug with vicidial.

Dahdi works fine with Asterisk 1.4.27 and ViciDial 2.2. We have installed it several times already without any major issues.

We actually had to use the Digium SVN/trunk version of Dahdi recently because of kernel-related issues with the latest release of Dahdi.

Just go on the asterisk.org site and you will find instructions for connecting to their SVN server, or you can even view their source on the web:

@ thanks matt i got it,

If i may ask- are you doing asterisk 1.6 for SVN.trunk version 2.4..? i have known friend setup asterisk 1.6 w/ SVN 2.4 and used for production, as far he could tell- great performance reduce load average by almost 40 percent...

Hope this might be true at all. :)

ViciDial does not work with Asterisk 1.6. There are several critical faults with Asterisk that are yet to be fixed, and Digium will only be sustaining 1.6 for 2 years while 1.4 will be supported for 5 years.

We may support 1.6 if we get sponsorship to do so, but there is not enough interest so far.

can someone please tell me what has to be considered when using vicidial with dahdi. I read above, that it is possible. but everything in vicidial points to zaptel.
for example when configuring phones with the admin-GUI it isn't possible to choose "dahdi" as "Client Protocol:" there is only "Zap"

I want to dial out via SIP and the inhouse phones are analog connected via dahdi. calling out with the dahdi phones by manually dialing an extension is no problem. but using vicidial it won't work. agent-GUI: "waiting for ring x seconds"

I searched for a while and couldn't find any hints on dahdi and vicidial. thanks a lot in advance.

cheers,
marcus

Our test development systems are running 1.4.27.1 with Dahdi and T1 cards. Zap in the phones section is made synonymous with DAHDI on the back end, and Zap phones and lines are not auto-generated in conf files like IAX and SIP are so you need to manually add those anyway.

thanks for the immediate reply. but I still don't get it. without using vicidial my dahdi phones work according to the extensions.conf. I can call them and dial out with them using SIP.

I configured DAHDI by editing chan_dahdi.conf and dahdi-channels.conf. What do you mean by "adding DAHDI phones manually"?

When an agent logs into the GUI I get the following message on the CLI:
"no channel type registered for 'Zap'"

EDIT:
- solved using "dahdichanname=no" in asterisk.conf.
- link chan_dahdi.conf with zapata.conf
- link dahdi-channels.conf with zaptel.conf

this message remains...
"unable to request channel Zap/101"

EDIT: solved by modifying phone extension in admin GUI

Now I got the problem of an invalid conference number. will hopefully solve this tomorrow.

Any help still appreciated ;)
