The Boom Headset

Postby johnt » Wed Sep 01, 2010 1:59 pm

Any one ever tried one of these? They pitch a good sale in regards to back ground noise reduction.

I have three test head sets coming in tomorrow, but wanted to check with the forum.

no experience with these, but i'm interested in hearing your results. how much per headset (and where did you end up acquiring them?)

Acquiring them was as easy as telling them I have a 70 seat call center and if they work I will buy! So they offered to ship me three different models, and return them if I am not satisfied. All I paid for is shipping. They are definitely expensive - $150 for the model I was originally looking at, but they are sending me a couple of higher end models as well, $200 plus.

Check out their web site per my original post and listen to their demos. Of course I wouldn't put a bad recording on my web site, but they seem to be on to something. They say they will whip a Plantronics, Jabra etc in regards to noise reduction. I will report back in a few days.

personally, i use plantronics 995H (wireless USB). lasts for an entire workday without charging, and the headset completely covers the ears. directional mic seems to cut out the noise quite well.

$40 on sale. :)

I'm not sure it could handle an 8 hour talk-shift, but it seems to do fairly well for my needs (i only run into battery problems if i FORGET to charge it!).

And remember: it's hard to keep track of 70 headsets (unless you microchip them like Target and put a sentry point at the door, which is NOT a freakin bad idea actually).

Keeping track of headsets is a whole other story. We are trying to figure out a good policy on that, ie you get one free and if you break it, lose it, you have to buy the next one, etc... I am just the tech guy, I will let other people figure out the policy!!!

Our calls have to be very personal, the prospect talking to agent 1 CANNOT hear Agent 2's voice three feet away.

I would also like to hear about any one with policy's on cell phones sitting on desks. We get ton's of interference with cell phone on desks. My ATT blackberry will make my soft phone static if my soft phone chord is laying on my lap with my cell in my pocket.

I figure if these headsets can cut out the whirl from a Blackhawk heli (per their demo) then they might do the job. Again, take it all with a grain of salt until the tests are done.
