Postby richmac » Mon Sep 20, 2010 7:33 am

hi all,

Is anybody know how to add disk size of root partition?

Im using vicibox redux 3.0.3

Disk Status:

Filesystem Size Used Avail Use% Mounted on
/dev/sda2 20G 3.2G 16G 17% /
devtmpfs 1006M 188K 1006M 1% /dev
tmpfs 1007M 4.0K 1007M 1% /dev/shm
/dev/sda3 210G 188M 199G 1% /home
tmpfs 1007M 0 1007M 0% /var/spool/asterisk/monitor

Thanks,

you would likely have to delete the home partition and then use a partitioning tool to alter root.

be sure you have nothing IN the /home that you need first

alternately, you could create a new partition (or several) and mount it/them where your needs suggest (for instance, the mysql data could be a partition, the asterisk sounds and vicidial recordings could each get their own partitions ...).

during installation, if you tell the opensuse wizard NOT to suggest a "home partition", it will make all of the drive part of the root instead of the home.

Actually, i'm kind of curious how you ended up with that partitioning scheme. Every ViciBox Redux v.3.0.1+ has been set to automagically wipe the drive and create a 4-gb swap and the rest of the drive space as root. I've tested this on multiple servers most of which even had pre-existing partitioning ranging from 80-gb drives up to 500-gb drives.

Did you go in and specify a partition scheme somewhere? Are you using the version 3 install document?

my experience has been that the system does "suggest" a home partition in most cases (of course, most of our systems have been recycled, and had multiple partitions on them already).

That was the behavior in v.2.0 and v.3.0.0. Starting with v.3.0.1 and up, ViciBox Redux automatically wipes out the partitions and just creates two, swap and root.

I am guessing he is following the old documentation for Verison 2, which has you entering the partitioner to disable the proposed home partition. Since version 3 of ViciBox Redux doesn't need this step, following that documentation would result in it creating a /home partition. The size of the root partition is 20-megs which is what I defined the minimum size to be in ViciBox Redux v.3.0.1+ as well.

Make sure you use the correct documentation. For ViciBox v.3 please use the following install doc: http://download.vicidial.com/iso/vicibo ... nstall.pdf
