I've just put in my first VICIdial server at a client site and I have a question. What does VICIdial do with unobtainable numbers? Does it flag them up and not call them again? I've looked through the manual and the forums and not found any mention so hopefully someone can help with some insight or guidance.

those are treated exactly the same as No Answer calls, since there is no "universal" code for this. All telcos return this differently. So ... NA can be no answer, impossible number, disconnected, forgot to pay his cell phone bill ... whatever.

I probably posted in haste as I couldn't see anything in the manual! VICIdial seems to report unobtainables as disconnected number (DC) in the main with a few as no answer; it seems to depend on the network the destination number is on.

petition (someone) to make it mandatory to always have the same "DC" code on all sip carriers. LOL

Not just SIP carriers, we have trouble with the codes returned from POTS lines depending on the carrier. As the major voice carriers migrate their core networks to IP interpreting return codes will become more problematic before its likely to get better.
Incidentally I've just installed a 12 user VICIdial for a client in the UK (replacing another dialler) and he's delighted with it so far! I'm learning quickly and I'm very impressed with it.
I've used other *commercial* diallers over the years and this compares with the best of them when you take into account cost and the level of help I have had so far through the forums. Hopefully I'll be able to return the help in the future.
