I considering installing vicidial on a proxmox openvz template but I have a question does vicidial need zaptel for meetme timming?

yes. ztdummy if not using hardware timing (to avoid installing a card, usse ztdummy from zaptel).

Stay away from virtual machines for vicidial. put it on a P4 first and it'll run great. use vicibox or vicidialnow (or even vicibox DEMO cd, which doesn't even need to be installed! runs from the cd!). But do not try to "demo" in a virtual environment. You'll end up spending a month trying to get it working and spend more than the hardware would have cost, but not HAVE the hardware when you're done! If you DO get it working with 1 or 2 agents for testing, it will NOT hold the load when you try to use it for real. Seriously.
