Load Balance Setup

Postby waqui44 » Wed Mar 04, 2009 4:23 pm

Hi first of all I have read the load_balance.txt.
My setup is like this.
1 Db Server
2 Vicidial Servers

I have configured 2 database in the DB server each of the Vici servers pointing to a different one. I guess this is where my confusion is.

If the DB's are separate, I dont see any reason that they would do load balance since they have 2 separate DB's right?

If i get this correct, on the DB server there is only 1 DB with both servers pointing to it.
I then need to create ALL the other entries on the different tables to populate the DB with the Phones, conferences but having the server IP of the 2nd Server.

Thanks for your feedback.

You want only one database with servers, server_updater, phones, conferences, vicidial_conferences entries for each dialer.

You also want to make sure that you have the iax.conf and extensions.conf set up properly to enable calls to move back and forth between dialers.

I guess the question I have is do i keep the 2 vicidial in different databases or the same database?

So i will add the other phones and conferences to the same database but pointing to a different server_ip right?

I am now getting
" Sent into invalid extension 's' in context 'default'"

I followed the iax.conf and extensions.conf settings.

You're going to have to post more output than that, what number is it trying to dial before you get that message?

Its OK thanks, I got it.

Conference and Vicidial_conferences are 2 different tables. Did not add my other servers conferences to the vicidial_conferences table.

Got a question.
What is the difference between setting the ""Server" "Balance Dialing"?
When should this be set to "Yes"?
This is only set on the Main Server right?

Thanks again.

Have you read the Vicidial Manager Manual?

Yes I have.

its just a bit confisuing on the setting side. If I set the Server Balance to Y on the 2nd viciit starts dialing dialing even though no one is loggged in yet on this server but they are already logged in on server 1.
Also the stats on the 2nd server are off, the mm:ss same with the droppped/answered and calls today.
When should it be set to 8368? should it be set on both the "server" setting and the campaign ?

Thanks, sorry for the bother.

You should always set the VDAD extension on the campaign screen to 8368 unless you want to use AMD or some of the other special dialing features like that.
