asterisk + vicidial
asteriskNOW + vicidial
asterisk + vicidialNOW
asterriskNOW + vicidialNOW

What exactly will you be using VICIDIAL for?
What is your level of experience with Linux and Asterisk?

We'll be using them to build a hosted call center solution.
We have decent knowledge of linux and asterisk. We have built a help hotline using asterisk 1.4.
The reason we want to look into asteriskNOW and vicidialNOW is because this project has quite a bit featured requirements on manageability such as adding seats and queues and extensions dynamically.
BTW, are the paid manager and agent manuals available in chinese?
thanks

We recommend Asterisk 1.2.30.2 most of the time, but 1.4.21.2 is fairly reliable as well.
As far as managability, have you looked at the 2.0.5 release candidates of VICIDIAL? They now include extension configuration through the web interface.
Documentation is currently only available in English.

So using Vicidial with AsteriskNOW is not recommended?
Sure, I'll take a look of Vicidial 2.0.5. Does it come with its own docs?
What's the different between Vicidial and VicidialNOW?

Anything that dnamically changes the conf files can have issues with VICIDIAL, AsteriskNOW falls under that category.
VICIDIAL 2.0.5 should be released in the next couple days, there are RC releases of it out right now, they do include documentation. After 2.0.5 is officially released the Manager Manual will be released for it as well.
VICIDIAL is call center software, VICIDIALnow is a Linux ISO that allows you to install a single-server installation of VICIDIAL with everything included.

Ok, so VicidialNOw to Vicidial is much like AsteriskNOW to Asterisk.
If both Vicidial and AsteriskNOW have issues dealing with dynamic changes, is Asterisk Realtime the only way to go?

No, we do not recommend RealTime at all. VICIDIAL in 2.0.5 has it;s own method for extension creation/modification that works just fine and is very efficient without causing system instability or confusing dialplan logic.

Would slackware 12.2 be a good distribution? Will new version 2.0.5 have it's own SCRATCH_INSTALL doc ?

I have not used 12.2 at all so I'm not sure as to how well it will work.
Yes 2.0.5 does have its own scratch install as well as ubuntu install doc.
