MYSQL-error Ubuntu Scratch..

Hi, i Installed Ubuntu Scratch on a single server.

On the Mysql part of the installation:

When i run mysql i fot this error---> ERROR 1045 (28000): Access denied for user 'root'@'localhost' (using password: NO).

and tried another:
root@viciscratch:~# mysql -u cron -p
Enter password:1234
ERROR 1045 (28000): Access denied for user 'cron'@'localhost' (using password: YES)

and also this mysql -u root -p
password:
ERROR 1045 (28000): Access denied for user 'cron'@'localhost' (using password: YES)

BUT WHEN I DO THIS; iwas able to login.but when i execute commands still getting the same error:

mysql -u cron -p
password: ( just leave blank)
mysql>
mysql>use asterisk;
ERROR 1044 (42000): Access denied for user ''@'localhost' to database 'asterisk'

BEFORE this mysql i run the agc_2.0.5 branch and speciified localhost, cron, 1234 all are default on the DB side.

anyidea on how resolve this issue.

Mysql install on Ubuntu can be a bit strange. What version of Ubuntu are you installing on?

I used Ubuntu 8.04 LTS Server as based OS for my vicidial install.

What would i do know- im stock on this process.

Should i uninstall the mysql package...? how about the agc_2.0.5 can i uninstall it also, would it not corrupt the system at all.

mflorell..? i can now login to mysql using root.

but when i try to use asterisk; it says unknown databased. should i create one..? or its not possible because cron user is existing.

Can you just install using vicibox? It's ubuntu and as long as the box has internet during setup ... you won't have any of these problems. And you can learn mysql next year.

failing that, you'll have to create the proper mysql database, then go through the installation script again with the proper permissions so the vicidial installation will succeed in creating your tables. it's not hard, but it's a lot easier to just install vicibox.

you can also look at the scripts that install vicibox and see how they work.

williamconley, the problem is like ive done with viciBox-when i do root password with mysql- i got touble accessing username cron on databased.

ill try reloading and leaving the mysql root admin a blank password. it it will works.

the "root" user for mysql is just for YOU. the cron user is only for vicidial's timed events. you do not ever need to log in as cron. in fact, you should never even log in to mysql with vicibox. no need for it. don't go there.

ok ill do that but i was able to proceed with my installation- using the mysql on root- able to create asterisk database and input data.

then follow the steps now already DONE.

just for the call testing_hope no more issues with voice.
