PRI tie line to Legacy PBX - Shoretel

Postby jepps3 » Thu Nov 12, 2009 8:00 pm

We have a shoretel PBX that I want to create a PRI tie line so we can have vicidial dial through the PBX.

Example: Vicidial --> PRI Tie --> Shoretel --> CO Trunks

My T100P Card is working fine and and the PRI is picked up on each system. I'm trying to grab a line off the shoretel but I still can't dial out though. Here is a sample of the CLI output when I dial:

Code: Select all
-- Accepting AUTHENTICATED call from 24.234.125.48:
       > requested format = gsm,
       > requested prefs = (),
       > actual format = gsm,
       > host prefs = (gsm),
       > priority = mine
    -- Executing AGI("IAX2/cc300-10550", "agi://127.0.0.1:4577/call_log") in new stack
    -- AGI Script agi://127.0.0.1:4577/call_log completed, returning 0
    -- Executing Dial("IAX2/cc300-10550", "Zap/g0/17024939332||To") in new stack
    -- Requested transfer capability: 0x00 - SPEECH
    -- Called g0/17024939332

What do you think the problem is?

What is the T1 signalling that you are using?

Having worked with Shoretel on something like this in the past you don't have much of a chance of getting this working unless you have a Shoretel tech helping you to get it set up and debugging it.

Of course if they can actually tell you what the signalling for the T1 port is and how to configure calls to be accepted through it on the Shoretel side, it should be fairly easy to set up, I have never had that happen with Shoretel though.

and don't forget, Vicidial is probably the biggest (and definitely the best) dialer project for asterisk there is ... but it is still dwarfed by the Asterisk community.

And this is an asterisk question ... so you may have a much better shot at finding someone with direct experience (maybe even an ex-shoretel tech ...) on the Asterisk forums.

T! signalling is:

Span 1,1,0
ESF, B8zs
national
pri-cpe

The shoretel is the Network PRI prividing the clock timing.

Shoretel want tons of $$$$ and a contract to get any kind of help with them. I'm using old equipment

My experience with Shoretel configuration is that it's a mess unless you are a Shoretel tech, and yes they want a lot of money before they will help you do something like this.

Yes...Shoretel charges $2400 for each switch you buy and another $200 per phone and then they want to tag you with another $5000 a year for support. that ridiculous. And thats just for my SMALL comapny.

From what I notice alot of big corporation pour money into these systems. No wonder some of these companies needed "Governmant Bailout" to help them survive. What a ripoff!

Depends on your point of view, really. Remember that it was not that long ago Vicidial didn't exist. You gotta give kudos to Matt ... this software has made a huge difference in the ability of the small business to avoid $50k+ charges for systems.

Not everyone, even today, knows that The Vicidial Group has this software available, and not everyone is willing to do the work necessary to get it running.

Shoretel and the others are still making their money because Vicidial isn't as smooth as Ubuntu (yet!).

So pay someone to "hook you up" and then post your "hook up" documentation for the next person ... and add one more nail in the coffin of the proprietary systems (and a whole new group of people will have Vicidial available as an easier "blend" choice instead of cold-turkey risk).

Complain about the pricing if you like, but honestly it took me quite a while to get an Asterisk system running as smoothly as a Dialogic/Televantage system does out of the box. On the other hand, it's a $40k "box" and doesn't do "dialer"! LOL

what I can only advice is...

Remove shoretel from the equation. Go VoIP.

Now I am beginning to hate legacy systems, including the old school thinking of some of these vendors.
