Hi ViciFlash.

I can not dial another extension.. How would I fix this problem?

if you cant dial another extension then it means you're not registered properly. check your settings again in your sip phone

is your soft phone registered? (required to begin using the system)

is your soft phone on the same local network as your vicidial system?

what settings did you use in your soft phone?

William and ViciFlash

Code: Select all
asterisk -rx "sip show peers"
if the phone in question has the correct IP address listed, we can move on. If not, report back.

when you log in, does this phone ring?

PostPosted: Fri Apr 01, 2011 1:05 pm
by digitaldirector
No William the phone DOES NOT RING when I log in

I take it that the code you listed is done in SHELL? or can I run this in the GUI?

PostPosted: Fri Apr 01, 2011 1:10 pm
by williamconley
"shell" uh-oh. You sound like a geek.

that is meant to be typed at the console or in an ssh console. (ie: yep, at the "shell")

:D Man I am far from a GEEK hahaha I have the admin running it now.. I will have the answer shortly...

Thanks!!

William

I have ext. 203 and 201 registered now

[root@server ~]# asterisk -rx "sip show peers"
Name/username Host Dyn Nat ACL Port Status
cc100/cc100 (Unspecified) D N 0 UNKNOWN
203/203 xx.xxx.xxx..xxx D N 1039 OK (271 ms)
201/201 (Unspecified) D N 0 UNKNOWN

203 is registered (asterisk shows an ip for the peer).

log in with phone 203.

PostPosted: Fri Apr 01, 2011 3:16 pm
by digitaldirector
I have logged in with 203 and still no ring when I log into agent screen. I am on a mac so limited to SOFTPHONES .. Ext. 203 I am using ZoIPer softphone which is what is recommended in the USER MANUAL..

we will need to see the asterisk cli from the moment you logged in to see if the system tried to call your zoiper phone.

PostPosted: Fri Apr 01, 2011 3:59 pm
by digitaldirector
William,

Can you give me the "Code" I need to run?

Thanks

PostPosted: Fri Apr 01, 2011 4:12 pm
by williamconley
well asked 8)

first log in via ssh (putty is a good program for the purpose so you don't have to sit AT the console).

at the console prompt enter
Code: Select all
asterisk -R

This will show you the "Asterisk Command Line". It may or may not (depending on your installation) show you a lot of details. To be sure you get enough details, you can enter
Code: Select all
set verbose 20

Now you should see the basic asterisk operations (including asterisk attempting to call your phone when you log in). If you do NOT see any traffic at all when you log in, you may try the sip debug setting
Code: Select all
sip debug

This will generate much more traffic and will be harder to read, but we need to see if ANYTHING happens when you attempt to log in (if nothing happens at the regular asterisk prompt only, of course). To get out of sip debug mode, back to the regular asterisk CLI
Code: Select all
sip no debug

Well its obvious that its not connecting

Im gonna try again

True. We're looking for Why.

ie: is it unable to dial that extension in sip? is the port blocked? is it auto-congested because of a network issue?

Auto-congesting SIP/203-00000017
change "qualify=" to "qualify=no"

qualify = check for lag time and disable if it is outside range. setting it to no will disable the disabler. 8)

if qualify is set to yes it will default to a specific number. if it is specified, it will use that number in thousandths of a second (1000=1 second). if a sip packet takes too long to return ... it will disable the connection until "it is back in range". Not a desirable behavior during testing, but ensures good quality calls in production. You'll be working out your network lag time issues later.

where do I set the qualify to NO?

PostPosted: Fri Apr 01, 2011 5:25 pm
by williamconley
likely in sip.conf, but for now you can manually edit sip-vicidial.conf and change the entry just for cc203

after that you can work out whether it came from a template (admin menu in the gui has templates) or if it was set in sip.conf or what. it came from somewhere!

Still no luck ... I edited both and the phone is not ringing

William thanks for all your help! You helped me learn how to at least troubleshoot far enough to find out what is and is not working. I finally had a friend install X-Lite and I logged in to the Agent Screen and IT WORKED!

My problem lies within my Firewall and the Server NAT deal. So onward I go to the NEXT problem.

i try not to toss fish. teaching to fish seems to work better for most people. you're going to be making $$ with this software for a long time ... you'll need to know at least the basics before you pass of daily responsibility (and customization) to someone else. a LOCAL technician makes it go much smoother.

Welcome to the party.
