Can anyone upload iso or ami of the latest Vicidial version on AWS? I badly need to setup vicidial on AWS. But I'm a newbie on AWS. Thank you in advance!

no you can not load custom ISO on aws, virtualized systems dont perform well and should not be used for more than a couple agents only

but there is a way to install everything needed to do it yourself

While AWS will lease you a physical server (capable of Vicidial) the cost will be outrageous. You would pay less at Vicihost (or PoundTeam!!) after paying for a physical server in the cloud. The cloud is more designed for Light CPU Usage applications that can share hardware to fully utilize the CPU. They charge each customer for about 50% of the CPU time, but they sell the CPU about 10 times (overbooking like the airlines). When your process requires 100% of the CPU (like Vicidial) and runs on Hi-Res Perl timing (Like Vicidial) it will crash and burn when you put load on it unless you have the full CPU. But works great for one or two agents (or sandboxing/development).

To install on AWS, you'll need to use Ubuntu or CentOS with scratch installation instructions. Google will locate several instruction sets for either: But this will be a learning process. Underlying packages change daily. Not for the faint of heart, but doable if you are into linux at all. Or you can pay someone to install it for you.

My advice: Before you even consider any of this, install it locally in an old desktop or a VMware/Virtualbox server and run it with ONE agent to see how it all works. If you do install virtually, move it to hardware (backup and restore). Even if the only use for that installation is to compare your Vicibox Easy Install to the Ubuntu/CentOS manual install to see what it should look like when running.

There is also scratch install instructions for Opensuse 15.1 If you prefer it that way: https://cyburityllc.com/?p=1252

Thank you for all the information! There is vicidial version 8 on the AWS community. I hope someone uploads version 9.

@carpenox tried that one but stuck on errors.

Yea I have tried it before as well. Its crap and doesn't work. I have even created a version 9 version for AWS and it will not work properly either. The way the software for asterisks and astguiclient/vicidial interacts with the hardware just do not function properly because of the virtualized environment.

Are you the author of this? http://viciwiki.com/index.php/OpenSuSE_Scratch_Install
Is this not working?

yes i wrote that up and it works as far as a functional system with asterisk and vicidial running and being able to make calls, but for a production type server, it just does not work in a virtualized environment

nox

How to deal with this?

asterisk: symbol lookup error: /usr/lib64/asterisk/modules/res_pjsip.so: undefined symbol: ast_serializer_pool_create
