DTMF letters for dial by name

Postby chrisatdrm » Sat Nov 10, 2007 10:35 pm

When we reach an IVR and need to dial by name, the DTMF is not working with letters. Our reps are not able to figure out what numbers to use for each letter fast enough. Do we not have it settup correctly?

Could you explain the problem you are having with VICIDIAL software?

Thanks for the reply.

Our reps are using x-lite softphones but are unable to use the x-lite keypad to send DTMF when using ViciDial so instead we are using the Send DTMF in ViciDial. At first the Send DTMF in ViciDial did not work at all but then we found in this forum that putting a comma before or after would make it work. This has made it work but we still have two issues with sending DTMF when reaching an IVR.

1) There is a pause between the time that we send the DTMF and the time that it is actually sent.

2) When we reach a dial-by-name directory, we cannot use letters on the computer keyboard, as we would be able to do if just dialing through x-lite. Our reps are having to look at a phone keyboard to figure out which numbers to put in the DTMF to match the necessary letters.

We are using VERSION: 2.0.95 Do you have any suggestions on how to eliminate the pause and how to use letters in the DTMF?

Thanks,

Chris

Interesting problem. I would suggest first trying the DTMF passthru meetme patch for the most recent asterisk so that you can go back to using Xlite:

You will need Asteirsk 1.2.24 or 1.2.23 for this patch to work, and you will need to add the "F" flag to your meetme entry extensions in extensions.conf to activate the DTMF apssthru feature in meetme.

cd ..src/asterisk-1.2.24
cd apps
wget http://www.eflo.net/files/meetme_DTMF_p ... 2.23.patch
patch -p1 < ./meetme_DTMF_passthru-1.2.23.patch
- File to patch: app_meetme.c
make clean
make
make install
