We have installed VICIDIAL along with Asterisk and Apache server with X100p card. Does our Asterisk server ned to be connected to a VOIP Gateway at our end which would then route the call to our VOIP provider or can we be Directly connected from our Asterisk server to our VOIP provider without the Gateway?

when using gateway it uses H323 which is not stable on asterisk...
please use SIP/IAX or PRI telco.. this is proven working on asterisk.
also if you want to use the gateway you need digium card which supports E1 connection.
