You are going to have to tell us about your server.

number of CPU cores?

SMP linux kernel?

amount of RAM?

recording calls?

Are you recording calls to RAM or hard drive?

Not really 100% sure about this. How can you determine if you are saving to hard drive or RAM drive? What I know is that a cron job is set up such that every 5 minutes it converts saved wav recordings to mp3.

If you don't know then you are probably recording to hard drive.

This muddles the loadavg a bit since it will take into account delays in IO to the drives.

You can expect to reliably go over 4.00 on loadavg and still have a stable system using the specs that you describe.

Thanks matt. Based on your reply seems that my system is doing really bad since its screwing up when load average > 1.20
