======================================================
*CLI> core show channels

SIP/192.168.1.2:5000 (None) Up Bridged Call(Local/9999000098@
Local/9999000098@def 9999000098@default:2 Up Dial(SIP/9999000098@192.168.1.
Local/9999000098@def 8600051@default:1 Up Conference(8600051)
SIP/192.168.1.66:400 (None) Up Bridged Call(Local/8600051@def
Local/8600051@defaul 8600051@default:1 Up Conference(8600051)
Local/8600051@defaul 999999999999@default Up Dial(SIP/999999999999@192.168.
6 active channels
4 active calls
*CLI>
=========================================================

previously it was giving me 3 active calls.....but as u can see above now its giving me the 4 active calls.
Is it normal behaviour or something going wrong ????

When you place calls, Asterisk creates two Local/ channels to start the call along with the real channel, so then a single call is taking 3 Asterisk channels initially.

Post the results of "core show channels concise" in Asterisk 1.4 or "show channels concise" in Asterisk 1.2 and I will go through them in detail
