i have a question on telcos and how they charge

Postby goose36 » Thu Dec 18, 2008 12:53 pm

i was wondering if the vdad report can help more accurately find out what the telco charges for every call going out.. i dont know if in VDAD it helps me find that out because i have a telco over charging and triplling from the last invoice but here is part of the conversation we where having and his reposnes

I had quick question.. When being charged the minute is through every call answered right?

That would be when a rep receives a call and dispos.
but what else does it charge

Like answer machines and what else?
[11:44:14 a.m.] Q / Ellick Corp says: 9-Dec should be 8-Dec
10-Dec should be 9-Dec
11-Dec should be 10-Dec
12-Dec should be 11-Dec
[11:44:31 a.m.] Q / Ellick Corp says: its on calls answered
[11:44:48 a.m.] Obie says: so only on calls the reps receive and dispo?
[11:44:55 a.m.] Q / Ellick Corp says: no
[11:45:54 a.m.] Obie says: okay that was my question, when you mean by answered what do you mean in detail.
Im not trying to be a pain its just that i still dont understand.

but when u mean by answered it is like when the reps gets a call and dispoes..

the dialer makes a call and detects and answering machine.
[11:46:22 a.m.] Q / Ellick Corp says: everything but ring time
[11:46:44 a.m.] Obie says: basically everything but no answers autodial
[11:47:01 a.m.] Q / Ellick Corp says: everything but ring time
[11:47:08 a.m.] Obie says: I dont understand that
[11:47:23 a.m.] Q / Ellick Corp says: read the manual i sent you
[11:48:04 a.m.] Obie says: What does everything but ring time mean

Does it mean that everything but no answer autodial
[11:48:22 a.m.] Q / Ellick Corp says: no it does not
[11:48:28 a.m.] Q / Ellick Corp says: everything but ring time
[11:48:49 a.m.] Q / Ellick Corp says: OB i dont have time to do this with you right now
[11:49:11 a.m.] Obie says: okay but looking through the report the vdad that shows you the days worth of work and whats been dialed, and what was dispoed etc.

On their it has

| A | Answering Machine | 91 |
| AA | Answering Machine Au | 1804 |
| B | Busy | 76 |
| CBHOLD | Call Back Hold | 1 |
| DNC | DO NOT CALL | 8 |
| DROP | Agent Not Available | 5 |
| INCALL | Lead Being Called | 1 |
| N | No Answer | 137 |
| NA | No Answer AutoDial | 2212 |
| NI | Not Interested | 100 |
| SALE | Sale Made | 6 |
| WR | Wrong Number | 9 |

what would be charged here
[11:49:19 a.m.] Obie says: what dispoed would be charged that is all im looking for
[11:50:26 a.m.] Q / Ellick Corp says: I keep telling you the vdad does not show you what is happening on the back end

VDAD does not show you what is happening on the back end. You need to look at the call_log table for this information. There are no pre-made reports that will tell you total billable call time, and every carrier bills them differently so there is not that much point to it.

Basically what the rep was trying to say was that when your system dials (vicidial, asterisk, any kind of dial) you begin paying the second that the ringing ends if the call is answered.

Now, if the call is answered and immediately hangs up, vicidial may not know this, but the telco does. you will get billed your minimum for this even though vicidial never even knew the call was answered. no matter how long the call was "connected", you will be billed (yes one quarter of a second will get you a minimum charge, whatever that is).

So every call that is answered will be billed, and vicidial will know about most of them. he was trying to be sure you knew you would not be billed for the ring time, but only as of the moment of answer.

you could try reconciling with the asterisk call log. asterisk's call log is in /var/log/asterisk/cdr-custom or cdr-csv
