I am trying to install zaptel-1.2.27.tar.gz on Slackware 12.2 and it gives me an odd error mentioned below:
make[2]: *** [/usr/src/asterisk/zaptel-1.2.27/zaptel-base.o] Error 1
make[1]: *** [_module_/usr/src/asterisk/zaptel-1.2.27] Error 2
make[1]: Leaving directory `/usr/src/linux-2.6.27.7'
make: *** [modules] Error 2
I have also tried it in ubuntu 8.10 server and it throws the same error. Can somebody help me with this. I have tried all that i know and also googled for it. Kindly help me out of this fix.

Zaptel needs the kernel headers or devel files. Make sure it's installed on your system. On CentOS or any RedHat derivatives it's called kernel-devel. On the *buntus it's called linux-kernel-devel.
