httpd error of 2.0.5 scratch install

hi matt,

i have done compiling httpd.

when i tried to open my http://your-new-asterisk-server-ipaddress

it does not display a page but pop ups "application/forcedownload".

did you get any errors along the way before or during this step?

no error. my distro is slackware 12.2

I will assume that you have Internet on the server in question (ping www.google.com -c 2).

I will assume that you have the server ip in place of "your-new-asterisk-server-ipaddress". (ifconfig)

I will assume that you have a "path" to this ip address through port 80 from the "client" box to the server. (both machines on the same subnet or if there is a router involved that the router has port 80 forwarded)

I will assume that you have started the httpd application. (apache2?)(use the "top" or "htop" whichever is available to verifty that it is running)

If your web server is not running or is not configured properly, you would be best served by locating those who publish that software and finding out what is wrong there. Otherwise, of course, if you are in the scratch install and have "stopped" at some point, i'd need to know which version of the scratch install you are using and where you stopped.
