They are really "on-hook" agents.

This means that they do not use vicidial.php and there is much less detail in the logging for Remote Agents.

Remote agents can use the vdremote.php screen to control their availability as agents.

My question is why there is such difference between agents and remote agents. I see only one difference, where the call was receiving, the location. Since asterisk can forward a phone call to another phone (extension), we should use the same phone in vicidial as the agent in office and let it forwarded to an outside phone. The web access is the same whether the agent is in office or at home. Correct me if I am wrong, Matt.

The term "Remote Agents" was a poor one on my part because the feature really has nothing to do with being remote. It is more correctly an "On-Hook Agent" because their phone stays on-hook and the calls ring on their phone instead of just being dropped into their session. Because of this they cannot use the vicidial.php web interface, and there is less logging possible when agents are using this method of being logged in.

We will most likely change the name of this feature in a future release to avoid confusion.

Have you read the ViciDial Manager Manual? It gives you the steps to configure remote agents.

Have you created a Remote Agent account for the user that you want to have logged in as a remote agent?

Ordinarily the use for "remote agent" is that they do not have a computer. No computer = they can't log in and disposition calls. Under these circumstances the manager "logs them in" since they have no computer. If you have computers for your agents, you really have no use for "remote agents".
