Download the v1.1 file for the updated Manual Dial. I am still checking the Recording tab. I tried calling a number and the recording is working. But from the first login it isnt working. Let me check this again and upload a new file once resolved.

I have this new design on 2.02 and its working. But the 2.03 is not working.

I should probably mention on this thread that the height and width are definable now in vicidial.php in the latest 2.0.4beta1 release and in SVN codebase.

You would need to upgrade to 2.0.4beta1 to have this feature.

Is this confirmed? I would LOVE to upgrade our call centers to using the new interface design. Were about to load 2.04 into our lab system so testing there would be good before moving to production systems. Just cant really roll our clients to a new interface that drops functionality in any way.

Thanks!

New UI and scripts?

Tyring to test the new Ui with a script that calls a form we have via an iframe. It works fine in the 'old' vici interface, but not in this one...

any ideas?

gerski,
Love the UI, I had a few agents test it in a production environment today. They loved the look.

Unfortunately, it did break things quite heavily for us.

We run vicidialer behind an Avaya PBX. So vici calls the agent through Avaya using EXTERNAL "protocol setting".
The biggest issue is that in the original interface you can click on the "Logout" link and it would destroy the asterisk zap channel as well as end your session. You also hear a message "You have been kicked out of your session".
When using EXTERNAL protocol, it is very important that agents log out properly and hang up their line otherwise havoc happens. Lines get cross-talk, etc etc.

Again, very nice UI just unfortunately could not use it because of lack of "Logout". We did try to use the "red X" at the top right corner of your UI, but it didn't properly log us out.

If I have time, I will go through and try to patch yours.

That feature was introduced in 2.0.4.1rc1 and is also included in rc2 and trunk. Not sure what version of the code this new skin is based on but a lot has changed in vicidial.php between the 2.0.4 release and 2.0.4.1rc2.

this design has been configured to 2.04. I haven't updated it to 2.04rc1, can you send me the screenshot?

The X button on upper right is the LOGOUT button.

Here's the link

Just extract the file and place it in your httpd folder.

Doesn't work right under 2.4rc2, but that's expected.
Would you take money to customize a similar screen to our exact specs?
If yes, what kind of timeframe would be required on your end?

Pause/Resume COLOR

Would be great to add color to the Pause/Resume buttons in this new form.
Leaving as only gray tends to make the agent forget about them.

Yes, my bad. I forgot I run 2.0.4 with a patched vicidial.php and vd_db_query.php from 2.0.4rc svn.

Yes, we can change it to other color. But gray means you cannot click the button.

Hi Gerski do you have plans to update it to rc2?

Yes, but i still haven't try or use the 2.0.4rc2 version, only 2.0.4, once i have tried i will post update for the new skin, we are improving our design now and i'll post it when we're done..

I believe the frames are managed by a javascript that is managed by a php script ... and formatting is whithin this mix ...

So that said no changes will survive an upgrade not even the slightest change in the code let alone creating a new skin which I have come to consider as a worthless thing to do since it is SIMPLY NOT POSSIBLE unless you edit the thousands of lines by hand tag by tag ....

PostPosted: Wed Jun 11, 2008 9:09 pm
by seaq
yeap. that's the problem... but it seems that we'll have a new interface for 2.0.5 or at least something more skinnable.

anyway thanks a lot, i'm also trying to upgrade it to rc2 but i'd need to customize it a bit so maybe it would be too specific for our customer...

but it seems that we'll have a new interface for 2.0.5

Well, It will take Matt a day of two to do that ... so the question is : Will Matt have two free days anywhere in the near future ?

As I said many poeple like me only need to get rid of code dependency to start working on the interface so if only javascript moves to its own file & stops being generated by php code, we will be so happy to code a new skin.

I have worked on vicidial.php for many hours, but I ended up knowing that only the original developer and no one else could remove the dependencies.

It would take more than 1 or 2 days to fully separate the Javascript from PHP in the vicidial.php screen. Entire functions would need to be rewritten and portions of the code would have to get a lot more complex to make the entire application skinnable.

We would also have to compromise on some of the features and how they are displayed to make display elements conform to fewer sets of display sizes.

In other words, making vicidial.php completely skinnable with separated elements will cost a lot of time, and not a single person or company has offered to sponsor that development so it will not happen for the next release. At present we are planning to at least update the appearance of the current vicidial.php for the next release which will not take anywhere near as much time.

I am no expert but I believe the complexity of the page could be reduced by 10 to 1 only by making different pages instead of one single page. IMHO that's the first step.

not really. You can change the whole design just the way I did. I created this because the existing design was for small if used in a large resolution monitor.
