Install Problems

Postby chasejordan1 » Wed Apr 02, 2008 10:15 pm

Ok I have been using VicidialNow on an old p4 and after a few normal setting issues the program works great, (you guys did a fantastic job) but my problem is that the p4's load average jumps to 2 or so when i have all my guys loged on. So I am upgrading to a HP DL580 Quad core, with 8gb of ram and 4 18.2 gig hard drives 15k, in raid 10. Ok so maybe a little overkill but fun. Everything seems to load using the vicidialnow 1.01 cd but, this is the same cd i used for the p4

1. After login i don't get the ip screen etc.
2. if i do asterisk -r i get nothing
3. iftop i get nothing

Any suggestions.

Thanks for a great product and all your help

I mean when you first log into root you get the welcome screen that show the IP of the machine and will prompt you to to do server ip update. I did post the server specs. HP Dl 580 Quad Core 8gb or and 4 18.2 drives at 15k raid 10.

chasejordan1, your problem is related to VicidialNow and not to Vicidial which is why I moved this topic to the VicidialNow section of the forum.

I had a similar issue. I was able to fix the issue by loading partition magic and deleting all of the Linux partitions and making and formating to NTFS. This erased all the data and I reloaded the CD and it repartitioned it and it showed all the data again. Did you need to install any special drivers for the raid controller to get this to work or was it in the installation?

Looks like you're experiencing one of the known issues. Please check the stickies first.

Please help

Postby chasejordan1 » Fri Apr 04, 2008 4:29 pm

I have checked the stickies and I am using vicidialnow 1.0.1. I have tried
"mount /dev/cdrom/mnt/cdrom" and this is the error I get "can't find /dev/cdrom/mnt/cdrom in etc/fstab or /etc/mtab.
I also try mount/dev/cdrom/mnt/cdrom" and get "no such file or directory"
I formated and reinstalled 3 different cd's.

Please Help

I think so. I mean I can change the IP with "netconfig", top works I can see all 8 cores it is only recognizing 3gigs of memory not the 6 gigs that the bios reads. I can change the date etc. And mysql i can get too. But I can't get to asterisk, or do the server_ip_upgrade command. I have now tried 4 times and have totally wiped the drives and have tried different raid configurations also. Please help any suggestions would be appreciated.

I have tried installing AsteriskNow and that works fine. If I install Centos 5 then do mount /dev etc. Will that do the trick. I really don't think I have the knowledge to try the scratch install. Please help.

It's "mount /dev/cdrom /mnt/cdrom". Notice the space after "/dev/cdrom"? That command makes the VicidialNOW CD accessible to the system.
