Okay I have a server running Vicibox and has been running fine for 6 months or so. It is version 2.0.5 and I haven't had any problems with this server the whole time its been up until this past week. Last week I think it was thursday or friday i got the time sync error and I looked into it and asterisk had crashed. I tried to asterisk -r into the console but it gave me the common "Unable to connect to remote asterisk (does /var/run/asterisk.ctl exist?)" error.
So I copied the /var/log/asterisk/messages to read later then restarted asterisk and everything went back to normal no time sync error. I went to check out the log file and I didn't see anything that indicated why asterisk had crashed.
I don't know what would cause this but it just happened again today so I am nervous this might keep happening. Any ideas?

Hi,
might be a problem with the database.
Check your mysql log files for error messages.
Thanks,

Nothing to do with the database would cause Asterisk to crash. Did you check the /var/log/screenlog.0 file to see if it output any information to the screen when it crashed?

Hi Matt,
I was referring to the time sync error.
Happened to me - when the harddisk was full the server_performance and the manager table got corrupted somehow. After repairing those tables the time sync error disappeared.
Asterisk didn't crash of the DB problems though. But the full harddisk prevented asterisk from starting up...
Thanks,
heinz

no i didn't check that log file i didn't realize that's where some output was logged, if it happens again I will check it. And I don't think it has anything to do with the database since all i had to do was restart asterisk it and worked again.
I just checked and in my installation the screen log file is located at /var/log/astguiclient/screenlog.0
is that the file you are referring to?
