Hey thanks so much for reply.

You mentioned exten:2; but I do not have any prefix to anything.. should I still put 2? Wont it truncate the country code - in my case 44?

Under campaigns, I have prefix as X and not 9/8.

That did not help!

I am sure there has to be a way defined for calls being transferred.. Shouldn't it be defined in extensions part of vici admin?

Shouldn't I write exten for AMD()?

its just something with your dialplan...

try this one

exten => _X.,1,AGI(agi://127.0.0.1:4577/call_log)
exten => _X.,2,Dial(${YOURSIPTRUNK}/${EXTEN},,tTor)
exten => _X.,3,Hangup

it is

exten => _XXXX.,1,AGI(agi://127.0.0.1:4577/call_log)
exten => _XXXX.,2,Dial(${SIPtrunk}/${EXTEN},,tTor)
exten => _XXXX.,3,Hangup

why does it execute DEADAGI immediately after call? What does it mean?

I changed 8369 to 8368 in detail view of campaigns and got 1 call; after that no help.. am I missing something?

Do you want access to it?

I will assume (although we all hate to do so) that you mean Vicibox server, not vicidialNOW server.

I will also assume that you have not changed from the asterisk version that is installed by default, but for posterity (these posts will be looked at next year, who will know then what version of vicibox (if that's what you installed) was available now (what version of vicibox/vicidialnow?) and what version of asterisk was in it (IF you haven't altered it and thought it a cool idea to upgrade to 1.4 without mentioning it ...?)

I do like that you actually listed your version of vicidial & build. But you did not state specifically that there was nothing else installed (also something i rarely assume, as doing so has often cost a significant amount of wasted time).

then, just to be funny, can you list everything from you Carrier setup all in one spot? (for the carrier with which you are having this issue...)

and you may wish to consider changing yours to match or replace one of the existing sample Carrier setups instead of using _XXXX.

This will give us enough information to begin actually figuring out what's wrong without wasting time (yours or ours) and if you get lucky just switching to a standardized sample mimicing setup may resolve your issue completely.

But one way or another we'll be on the path to a solution.

Setup Details

Postby techster » Mon Dec 21, 2009 1:57 am

Its VICIBOX Server downloaded from http://download.vicidial.com/iso/vicibo ... 2-i386.iso

I have not upgraded anything. Installed GUI and webmin ONLY.

Version Details:
VERSION: 2.0.5-173
BUILD: 90320-0424
From System screen:
Version: 2.0.5
DB Schema Version: 1135
Asterisk 1.2.30.4

Carrier Details:
Registration:
register => 21100038---:*****@193.47.84.4:5060

Accounts Entry under admin:
[terrasip]
username=21100038---
fromuser=21100038---
type=peer
secret=*****
host=terrasip.net
nat=yes
disallaw=all
allow=alaw
allow=ulaw

Global String: SIPtrunk=SIP/terrasip
Dialplan Entry:
exten => _X.,1,AGI(agi://127.0.0.1:4577/call_log)
exten => _X.,2,Dial(${SIPtrunk}/${EXTEN},,tTor)
exten => _X.,3,Hangup

I am using only one server as of now. Test dialing would be done with 5-10 agents. Server where vicidial would be ported to have following specs:

4GB RAM, Quad Core/Opteron, Clocked at >2.5GHz., 1 100GB+ 1 250GB SATA RAID drives, redundant auto backup power supply.

Recordings would remain on this server only.

I would want to have graphs installed once the system is running and working.

Well??

are you trying to learn how to click with the mouse or to use vicidial?

Stop fooling around and use a test server without gui.

Do you honestly expect that a server with gui wil have the same behavior than one without.

And people here also expect that you use a server without gui.

I'm using through SSH though, so not much of the GUI is being used. However, we have 2 other requirements which are being met through this server as of now. Secondly, the new tech guy is not very good with linux commands.

What difference will it make if I remove GUI or I just do a remote SSH/remote login through webmin.. will it make any difference; if yes, I will remove gui.

why do you hire a tech guy that can't use command modes?

just dont boot in in gui mode.

what kind of network do you have?

how are you connected?

I have wired connection and wireless as well.

I don't boot into gui mode. I have also assigned dns to my router using dyndns with port forwarded; so I can access my server via work network as well.

if you want a good indication of proper use of vicidial/vicibox ... just install with the CD and then do EVERYTHING through the web interface.

you will then have a standardized installation which can be easily reproduced (and backup and restore becomes fairly simple at this point).

no GUI because you never need to be in the server to begin with and now you can duplicate/rebuild/restore without any "extra" installation (or a tech guy, because it's all handled through the Web Interface).

if you want to pay a tech guy for something, have him show you how to do everything through the web interface in Vicidial :)

which is why it's best to go with a raw installation. nothing else added. get it working that way with the web interface. AFTER you have that up, happy, functional, then you can play to your heart's content. but don't mess with it at all (keep the NONvicidial technicians away from the box, ESPECIALLY asterisk technicians, until AFTER the Vicidial is Working Properly).

It's amazing how often Asterisk Gurus completely mess up installation of Vicidial because they think it's a "normal" asterisk application. it is NOT. it breaks all the rules. which is why Vicidial WORKS where others have failed. :)

Don't invent anything or try to "adapt" vicidial to a purpose until it Works.

I did not install anything else; I just installed gui which I have removed. After that no update no nothing, still it is not working as it should be.

I dont know where I am going wrong. It is something to with settings only. What do you suggest?

Want an advice?- start from a scratch, reinstall VIcibox. Do NOT amend, change, fix, polish etc. ANYTHING in it. Follow Manager's manual to add a carrier entries.
Check with your carrier what dial string and settings are expected.

Make manual calls, if success- go to auto calls without AMD, if success- turn AMD on.
Again- do NOT add, change, polish ANY settings or files in default installation.

Once you get it working- introduce changes one by one.

I know, it's something you already know but want avoid, but believe me, we do make mistakes, we make changes and forget about them, we make changes and think these changes are not significant, but actually it turns out to be the opposite.

If it still doesn't work, then you'd know there is something else wrong, and here, in the forum, you can get better help, since you will not be using (probably) screwed up installation.

Do not fear the "reinstall". Ask anyone who installs any Linux software - especially servers. Any time you aren't sure, you CAN do a simple fast free reinstall to be SURE it's a vanilla install with no errors and no alterations. Emphasis on the No Errors. Watch it install.

We've all installed a box more than once just to be sure. If you are afraid of the reinstall, it usually stems from not being sure how to do it. Which means there is a possiblity you did something wrong or at least thought you did. Dispell that fear and move on.

Of course, there's also the possibiity that you're sure you did it right, but you've installed and changed a lot of things since then. But ... if this were a raw install without all that other stuff, it may WORK (even though you are SURE nothing you did would affect that ... hesitation often means that there IS something else installed or configured that could be interfering).

But really, a full Vicibox reinstall can take 20 minutes. Go ahead and invest that time and see if it saves you a week of argument with a stubborn box (that can't run through no fault of its own!).
