vicidial not updating conf files

Postby raysolomon » Sat Jan 16, 2010 2:59 am

I installed asterisk 1.4.21.2 and astguiclient/vicidial 2.2.0rc2 on centOS 5.4 using the scratch_install.txt as a guide.

It appears I did everything right, but when I go to add a dial plan (Admin->Carriers->mycarrier), it wont save the information to sip-vicidial.conf or extensions-vicidial.conf.

It saves it in the database, but it won't write the information I submitted to the asterisk conf files.
I did a chmod 777 on these files, but it still did not work. So it must be a configuration issue somewhere else.

Also, the same thing happened when adding a phone (Admin->Phones->mynumber). It did not write it to a file either. I had to open a conf file and add the information manually before I could login with Ekiga.

I see a pattern going on here. I have to assume vicidial is not updating/writing to any other /etc/asterisk conf files.

Any ideas anyone?

It should be Yes

ok thank you.

I did not see it plainly stated somewhere not to use centos.
I read a lot of docs, perhaps I missed it.

Would you recommend I use this on a production environment?
http://www.vicibox.com/server/index.html

or should I do a fresh install of Ubuntu Server 8.0.4 using the Ubuntu_Install.txt

or what OS do you recommend?

I need to get this ready to use in 4 days on a production environment.
Please give me your recommendations.

You welcome

If you decide to use opensuse

There is a install script:

vici-install-11.1.sh

In http://download.vicidial.com/opensuse/

And if you chose vicibox it has it own area in this forum.

I prefer Ubuntu since it is what I usually use.

Is there a particular Ubuntu version I should use or does it not matter?

8.04 or 9.10?

The Ubuntu_Install.txt has a guide for 8.04, but has 9.10 been tested as stable with vicidial by anyone?

UPDATE

I did a fresh install of Ubuntu 8.04 and asterisk 1.4.21.2 and astguiclient 2.2.0/vicidial from svn trunk and used the Ubuntu_Install.txt file as a guide.
I installed according to the guide and it appears everything is working fine.
I ran into no issues during the installation.

However, I still have the same problem as I pointed out in my first post.

For example, when I use vicidial to add a new phone (Admin->Phone->myphone) it save the information to the database, but it will not add the information to the asterisk conf file (sip-vicidial.conf).

..and yes, I have Rebuild conf files=Y in Admin/Servers

any suggestions?

Try running ADMIN_keepalive_ALL.pl with the --debugX flag after you set to rebuild conf files for the server.

Also, make sure the server is set to be an active asterisk server and that all of your server_ips match everywhere in the database and your astguiclient.conf file.

Any reason you aren't using the ViciBox server ISO install?

Got it working. I can make outbound calls now.

The server IP did not match in Admin/Servers.

I was using my public IP instead of my internal asterisk server IP 192.168.1.30.

Now I just need to get the inbound calling to work.

Thanks mflorell.

Hello,
I was advised by Mr. Mohammed Thayeb of Keve Info Systems to use Slackware as he said it was the OS recommended by you in a Training session on April08 at FL . I just wanted to know, Is there any reason that you dont recommend Slackware now..??

Slaskware is too hard to maintain and update over the long run. I still use it, but it requires more time and attention and there are no large commercial support companies behind it, and no drivers written for it like there are for OpenSuSE.

I have the same problem as above.

I installed vicidial 2.2 by using ubuntu scratch in Ubuntu 10.04 server.

The problem I used ubuntu 10.04 is that, my ethernet driver not supported in ubuntu 8.04, so i tried with 10.04 server. it works fine.

Everything gone fine in instalaltion. But the problem is that i dint get ay information in asterisk conf files while i try to add phone and carriers.

How vicidial is working with asterisk, in which way we can integrate this two.

Is there any modification required in scratch for installing vicidial in ubuntu 10.04 server

Have you read the ViciDial Manager Manual?

Is your server set as an active asterisk server in the admin web interface?

Is the ADMIN_keepalive_ALL.pl script set in your crontab?

Have you run it manually with the --debugX flag?

What are your keepalive settings in astguiclient.conf?
