register a account with dyndns.org, download and install the dyndns client for linux , this will update the ip as it changes

http://www.dyndns.com/services/dns/dyndns/howto.html

http://www.dyndns.com/support/kb/using_ ... vices.html

add the following to sip.conf

externip = domain.dyndns.org ;domain regsitered with dyndns
fromdomain = domain.dyndns.org
localnet = 192.168.X.0/255.255.255.0 ; ur local ip/subnet
nat=yes
qualify=yes

If you know when your IP changes you can actually place the ADMIN_update_server_ip.pl script in your crontab to update the IP address of your system automatically in the asterisk database.
