Pingtime and audioquality

Postby Michael_N » Fri Jun 15, 2007 1:11 pm

How does the pingrate affect the audioquality on the sip/iaxcall?

If an remoteagent has a lousy connection would that make problems?

That would make all sorts of problems, and it's not just the ping rate, but the variance in latency. For instance on cable connections if the average ping time is 100ms that's great, but if you get spikes of 3200ms every few minutes that will cause all sorts of problems with VOIP.

We currently use vicidial and Zoiper and we have been having issues with multiple calls being recieved at the same time and also having spikes in voice quality

With latency of upto 250 ms calls are bearable ( not great though ) but worst part is if latency goes up/down and is not stable . IF connection is stable and there is no packet drop at all then theres just small lag in conversation .
